The defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints will make their preseason debut when they travel to face the New England Patriots on Thursday night.
New Orleans will line up 10 year veteran out of Purdue Drew Brees as the starter. Expect Brees for only a few series. Brees’ backup is second year pro Chase Daniel the former signal caller from Missouri. Daniel saw no action last year as the Saints #3 quarterback. He played in two preseason games in 2009 and went a combined 14 of 24 for 143 yards three touchdowns and 0 interceptions.
On the Patriots depth chart as the number two quarterback is former Michigan St Spartan Brian Hoyer. The second year quarterback was the surprise of a season ago winning the number two spot on the club. In mop up duty in 2009 Hoyer completed 19 of 27 passes for 142 yards no touchdowns and no interceptions. He was effective last preseason hitting on 29 of 44 passes for 354 yards 1 touchdown and 0 interceptions in two games.
